Akash Anti Aircraft Missile System
The Akash (sky) is an all-weather medium-range anti aircraft missile system developed in India. It provides multidirectional and multitarget area defence. The missile system was indigenously developed as a part of the integrated guided-missile development programme (IGMDP). In operation from 1983 to 2007, the programme developed a range of missiles, together with the Nag, Agni and Trishul missiles and the Prithvi ballistic missile.

The Akash missile can be launched from static or mobile platforms, like battle tanks, providing flexible deployment. The SAM can handle multitarget and destroy manoeuvring targets like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), fighter aircraft, cruise missiles and missiles launched from helicopters.

The Akash missile has a launch weight of 720kg and measures 5.8m in length, 350mm diameter and 1,105mm wingspan. The missile can fly at a speed of up to Mach 2.5 and contains a height ceiling of 18km. The 60kg payload can use prefabricated tungsten alloy cubes warheads or a nuclear warhead.

The Agni is a short or intermediate-range ballistic missile. first tested at the interim test range in Chandipur off the coast of Orissa, India, in may 1989. The missile consists of one engine. In March 2010, a nuclear-capable Agni-I was test fired from the integrated test range at Wheeler Island off the Orissa coast.

The strap-down inertial navigation system uses an explicit guidance technique. The structure is formed of all-carbon composite materials to shield the payload during its re-entry stage. The flight trials proved the long-range capabilities of the missile. The missile can carry a conventional payload of 1,000kg or a nuclear warhead and has a range of 700-800km. These are transported by rail and road, and powered by solid propellants.

India's Defense Research and Development (DRDO) has more financial resources in the development of new generation ABHAY (Fearless) VIF. The prototype ABHAY first phase completed in June this year, and full-scale tests of the desert will be held next summer, according to DRDO. Domestic violence has received some positive feedback from the Indian Army. The vehicle is fully developed independently by India and is equipped with a high speed AB40mm gun capable of firing APFSDS and HE ammunition developed by ABHB. The whole system adopts ABHAY automatic transmission and is equipped with thermal imaging system. The ABHAY need a crew of 3 and 7 soldiers. The chassis adopts the hydraulic suspension of gas. No air conditioning system is designed to ABHAY. The army source said that even Kanwa T90S MBT has no air conditioning. When conducting combat operations in hot desert region, greater importance should be placed on the physical comfort of the crew inside the vehicle, which can improve the combat capability of the soldiers physically and psychologically. The Indian Army seems to have inherited the tradition of the Soviet Union forces, who paid little attention to the physical comfort of its weapons systems.

China has begun to develop its own next-generation domestic violence on the basis of the BMP3 turret updated version. Three prototypes have been tested since 2002.
